Cryogenic

Designed a pivoting shutter for a liquid nitrogen cooled optical instrument (IR Camera) that is housed inside of a dewar. Shutter had to pivot smoothly and reliably at room temperature during assembly, as well as during operation at 77K (-196C) while under extreme vacuum. Previous designs by others were very problematic. My design worked perfect. High praise from my customer.

Insides of the camera dewar

This shutter needed to pivot while ‘warm’ (during assembly)as well as ‘cold’ (operational)
